Die Erzählung
A sphinx is an imagined being with a lion's body and a human head.
The Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt is dated to around the 26th century BC.
In Greek myth the sphinx posed a riddle on the road to Thebes, and Oedipus solved it.
'Four legs in the morning, two at noon, three in the evening' is that riddle.
