Die Erzählung
The Lateran Obelisk is an Egyptian obelisk standing in the Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano in Rome.
It was originally raised at the Karnak temple in Egypt around the 15th century BC.
It was moved to Rome in the 4th century for the Circus Maximus and re-erected at its present site in 1588.
At about 32 metres it is the tallest standing ancient Egyptian obelisk.
